Personal Assistant required to support a fun, sociable young man in the G15 area. I am looking for a caring and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support my son, a friendly and fun-loving young man who enjoys getting out and about and being a part of his community. He has a bubbly personality, a great sense of humour, and really enjoys spending time with others. He is a big, warm-hearted person who brings a smile to those around him, especially when he sees others smiling too!

About the role: Your role will support R on a 1:1 basis to enjoy his daily routine and take part in the activities that he loves, while always ensuring his safety and wellbeing. The role is for 20 hours per week. The exact days and times will be discussed at interview. The rate of pay is £14.40 per hour.

A typical day might include:

  • Trips to the Gorbals Leisure Centre, including the treadmill and boccia
  • Enjoying bus journeys together (something he really loves!)
  • Going out for lunch and walks in the park
  • Attending social clubs and spending time in the community
  • Supporting him to watch and enjoy football
  • Helping him get ready in the morning, including personal care

He is very social and enjoys being out and about – he loves seeing people and being part of things happening around him.

What support is required: Your role will include:

  • Providing close 1:1 supervision in the community
  • Supporting him to always stay safe
  • Ensuring he is always supported when out and about
  • Encouraging participation in activities and promoting independence
  • Supporting with personal care and daily routines

R has autism, a learning disability, and epilepsy. Experience in these areas, particularly epilepsy, would be beneficial although training and support will be provided.
