Chase Law is a specialist UK immigration law firm providing high-quality immigration advice and legal services to businesses and private individuals across the United Kingdom. We pride ourselves on delivering practical, client-focused solutions tailored to each client's individual circumstances whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and client care.
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Legal Assistant to join our busy Glasgow office. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with previous UK immigration law experience to work closely with an experienced Immigration Adviser and develop a rewarding career within a fast-paced specialist immigration practice.
The Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the firm's day-to-day legal and administrative operations. Working closely with the Principal Immigration Adviser, you will assist with a broad range of UK immigration matters for both businesses and private clients, whilst ensuring the delivery of an exceptional client experience.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and confidence in communicating professionally with clients, employers, legal professionals and government departments.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive administrative and legal support to the Principal Immigration Adviser/Lawyer.
- Managing telephone enquiries, emails and client communications professionally and efficiently.
- Scheduling client consultations, managing diaries and coordinating appointments.
- Preparing legal correspondence, application forms, supporting documents and draft legal submissions under supervision.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of UK immigration applications, including business immigration and personal immigration matters.
- Maintaining accurate electronic and physical client files using the firm's case management software.
- Conducting legal research and gathering supporting evidence where required.
- Liaising with clients or government departments and other third parties where necessary.
- Preparing customised client correspondence, engagement letters, invoices and legal documentation.
- Monitoring application deadlines and ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
- Coordinating travel arrangements and itineraries where required.
- Assisting with general office administration, including filing, scanning, photocopying and document management.
- Undertaking any other duties reasonably required to support the efficient operation of the firm.
Right to Work in the UK
Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom and either be exempt from immigration control or hold valid permission permitting employment in this role.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work undertaken by the firm, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing employment. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory DBS clearance and completion of the firm's pre-employment checks.
Skilled Worker Visa Sponsorship
Please note that we are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship to applicants applying directly from overseas for this position.
Applicants who currently hold valid permission to stay and work in the UK may be considered for future sponsorship, provided they have a minimum of 8 to 12 months' remaining leave on their current visa at the time of application. This allows sufficient time for training, performance assessment and successful completion of the probationary period before any sponsorship decision is made.
For exceptional candidates who demonstrate outstanding performance and successfully complete a minimum six month probationary period, the firm may consider sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, subject to:
- Business requirements and workforce planning.
- Compliance with the Immigration Rules and Home Office Sponsor Guidance.
- Continued eligibility under the Skilled Worker route.
- The firm's sponsorship obligations and internal approval process.
Although, preference will be given to applicants who are British citizens, Irish citizens, or individuals who are exempt from immigration control (Settled Status or ILR).
Any future sponsorship remains entirely at the discretion of the firm and should not be regarded as guaranteed or forming part of any offer of employment.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Statutory employer pension contributions (subject to eligibility and opt-out provisions).
- Statutory Sick Pay.
- 28 days annual leave entitlement.
