The Government Counter Fraud Profession comprises more than 9,000 members drawn from around 85 public bodies working to fight fraud across the public sector.
The GCFP brings together individual and organisational learning from across the public sector, enabling us to take our next steps in the fight against the constant threat of fraud.
The establishment of the GCFP and continued investment in counter fraud resources demonstrates the Government’s commitment to finding and dealing with fraud across the public sector.
The Profession sets out to tackle fraud head on by committing to invest in this group of highly skilled people, who are at the forefront of protecting public services and fighting economic crime.
By providing the standards, guidance and tools for GCFP members to develop their knowledge, skills and experience, we will not only ensure public sector organisations benefit from a common understanding of the skills needed to counter fraud, but also recognise those professionals who lead the fight.
Through the empowerment of its members, throughout their careers, the community created around the GCFP will continue to grow and develop, to protect public services and fight economic crime.
As part of the Strategy Engagement and Membership team within the Practice Standards and Capability function, you will join a small and dynamic team building capability through the GCFP.
The team brings together expertise to build the profile of the Profession as we continue our efforts to grow and evolve its reach and impact.
We are looking for a talented individual with the skills to help support the Head of Strategy Engagement and Membership to scale up and improve the value of the GCFP to members.
The post holder should have a good understanding of the latest thinking on the professionalisation of Counter Fraud and will apply this to the strategic direction we should take.
This role would suit someone with a counter fraud or economic crime background, combined with previous experience of developing communications strategies across multiple channels, delivering engaging events and developing high-quality digital content for internal and external audiences.
You should be passionate about fighting fraud, challenging the status quo, making a difference, developing capability and shaping how the public sector effectively understands and reduces the impact of fraud.
The role is interesting, demanding and fast-moving.
Key deliverables and responsibilities of these posts will include
- Improving the value proposition for GCFP membership across the public sector.
- Oversee the Governance of the GCFP Board, Cross Sector Advisory Group and other stakeholder groups.
- Leading the multi-channel communications and engagement strategy for the GCFP, including the development and publication of high quality digital content.
- Organising the annual in person GCFP Membership Conference by supporting the team in the planning and delivery of a high quality professional event for members.
- Working closely with the GCFP Board and collaboratively with other PSC and PSFA teams to highlight and champion counter fraud capability across the public sector (e. g. when new policies and standards are released).
- Be responsible for the Contract Management for the GCFP membership platform, including working with internal and external stakeholders and closely with the supplier to oversee the development of the platform and its maintenance.
- Engaging with member and prospective member organisations to grow and promote the GCFP.
This will include some representational work at sectoral events and may require you to deliver presentations.
- Working closely with the Head of Assurance on verification and assurance of member organisations of the GCFP.
- Leading on bespoke projects that will support and enhance the GCFP including project management oversight of the GCFP initiatives within the team.
- Be responsible for the management of GCFP membership and learning personal data, ensuring strict compliance with General Data Protection Regulations and the Data Protection legislation.
- The role might also include line management of staff that may not be co-located.
- Duties within the scope of the grade and within the limits of their skill, competence and training.
- Potentially line management of a small team in the future.
- Travel, as required, to other locations in the United Kingdom including the PSFA locations (currently Glasgow, London, Newcastle, York and Manchester).
