General Maintenance Engineer – FM Service Provider - Chesterford, Essex — Up to £45,000
CBW Staffing Solutions are proud to be partnering with an established building services provider based in Chesterford, Essex, in their search for a skilled General Maintenance Engineer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable and well-regarded FM company, working on a commercial estate of buildings near Chesterford as part of a close-knit, experienced maintenance team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site, carrying out a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
This is a varied, hands‑on role suited to a multi‑skilled engineer who enjoys problem‑solving and takes pride in maintaining high standards across a busy commercial environment.

Requirements
- City & Guilds / NVQ (beneficial)
- 17th or 18th Edition
- Must be able to provide copies of trade certificates (essential)
- Proven track record in commercial building maintenance
- Understanding of L8 water treatment, pumps, and air handling units (essential)
- Key Duties
- Emergency lighting checks
- Fire alarm and sprinkler testing
- AHUs/FCUs – filter changes, belt changes, actuator changes, coil cleans
- Pumps – PPMs and strip‑downs (seals, bearings, valves, overhauls)
- Water treatment – dipslides, p H and temperature testing, chlorination, chemical dosing
- Chlorinators – annual inspection, descaling
- Condensers and condenser returns
- Cooling towers
- Softeners
- Boilers – re‑sets
