We are looking for a Staff Nurse who is enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated to working with Young People and Families to join our team at the Darwin Centre. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and clinical skills around Trauma informed care, Children’s Safeguarding, intensive treatment options for a wide range of Mental Health disorders, formulating and managing risk and DBT skills. There will be chances to receive teaching sessions from other specialist CAMHS services.

The post holder will work alongside an experienced Multidisciplinary team with Young People and their families experiencing a wide range of Mental Health difficulties, to provide 24-hour inpatient care. As part of the team, you will be supporting the Young People and their families with tools to manage their Mental Health difficulties, helping them to develop plans to manage when they are experiencing Crisis and care plans to provide interventions which will make a lasting change across their life.

Our extensive Multidisciplinary team comprises of Occupational Therapy, Social work, Psychiatrist Consultant, Family Therapy, a Psychology team and Nursing team. The successful applicant will work alongside these professionals to provide wholistic care to the Young People and Families within our service. There will also be exciting opportunity to work with external agencies and CPFT’s CAMH Home Treatment and Crisis Teams to provide collaborative treatment and care plans and to ensure smooth transition of care when leaving hospital.

  • To participate in the setting of quality standards, including the monitoring and reviewing in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
  • Utilising the data available such as learning from incidences and complaints.
  • To ensure the post holder understands and meets their professional role and responsibilities under the Care Programme Approach.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2007 are observed, adhered to and implemented.
  • To respect and value the different therapeutic approaches within the multi-disciplinary team but ensure that the agreed philosophy approach is adopted and followed.
  • To demonstrate care and compassion in your work.
  • To ensure that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives.
  • To ensure that accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with the Trust policy and NMC guidance, reporting on any issues as appropriate.
  • To ensure that they comply with current good practice in informing/updating all members of the multi-disciplinary team, their colleagues, service users and appropriate others of changes involving current nursing care plans, progress, mental state and psychosocial factors in line with best practice.
  • To ensure that they communicate effectively with service users and carers, actively listening to establish an understanding of their needs.
  • To provide written reports as requested.
