Ward G3 is a 28-bedded step down unit. The stroke unit also includes Ward G2A, which is a 12-bedded acute stroke unit (ASU) with 2 additional assessment trolleys. You will be expected to work across both wards. We are looking for compassionate, caring healthcare workers who strive to deliver high quality care to patients. Please note this is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required.
You currently must be in the UK and have current experience of working in a UK Healthcare setting as an HCA. As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate. You will be primarily assisting the nursing team with care of the patients and will facilitate the smooth running of the department.
As a member of the ward/department team you will always support clinically your registrant colleagues and act in the best interest of patients. With this role we expect that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and values others’ beliefs whilst delivering clinical care. This is a clinical front facing role where excellent customer care skills are expected to be delivered to patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.

You will not be required to undertake an apprenticeship if you have previously completed a relevant apprenticeship, NVQ or similar Healthcare qualification.
These are some of the clinical roles you may be expected to deliver as a B3 HCA at FHFT:
- Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.
- Undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties to deliver agreed plans of care, acting on own initiative.
- Mentor and support new to care and Health Care Support Workers on the care certificate and to be a ‘buddy’ to any new starters.
- To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and experience an excellent patient experience whilst using our Trust services, respecting customs, and religious beliefs at all times.
- Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals.
- To care for enhanced care observation patients as required, under the Trust’s ‘Assessment, Observation and 1:1 Engagement for General Adults, Children and Young People Policy’.
- This may involve fulfilling the roles and responsibilities of a Mental Health Care Assistant delivering enhanced care observation, once MHCA related training study days have been attended.
- To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
