Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Public Health Assistant – Early Years to join our Health Visiting service to deliver support to families (adults) with children aged nought to five in Kent. You will need to be a confident and flexible practitioner, passionate about improving the health and well-being of children through delivery of the healthy child programme. You will work as part of a team to keep children safe and well by having a good understanding of child development and the importance of play in children's lives, learning and language development.

What does the role involve?

  • Understanding and Identifying healthy normal growth and development in children
  • Completing development reviews using the ages and stages questionnaire
  • Providing appropriate responses and advice to clients, parents/carers and families
  • Escalating concerns when required
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings
  • Build relationships with colleagues to enhance the team working environment.

We provide full induction training, regular coaching and the support and encouragement needed to get you off to the best start. This role is a community-based role so the majority of your duties will be carried out between your base and community settings. Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is due to integrate with Medway Community Healthcare on 1 October 2026. Following integration and to align our community services to the new Neighbourhood Model of care delivery, there will be a period of consultation which may result in changes affecting some services, teams or roles.
