A leading fleet consultancy based in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Controller to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to transition from workshop roles into a professional, office-based environment managing fleet repairs. This role offers a competitive salary of approximately £40,000, working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with no weekend work.

Duties of the Fleet Maintenance Controller:

  • Assessing repair requests submitted via the company’s in-house system
  • Reviewing repair requirements to ensure necessity and validity
  • Checking labour times and repair recommendations for reasonableness
  • Authorising repairs and managing the maintenance process
  • Monitoring vehicle downtime and ensuring efficient repair progression
  • Liaising with garages and repairers to coordinate work
  • Arranging hire or replacement vehicles as needed
  • Providing regular updates to drivers on repair status
  • Maintaining accurate records and internal system updates
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with repairers, drivers, and clients

Requirements of the Fleet Maintenance Controller:

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle repairs and workshop processes
  • Ability to assess the necessity and reasonableness of repairs
  • Understanding of labour times and repair procedures
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Competent with IT systems and internal software
  • Ability to manage multiple vehicles and repair jobs simultaneously
  • Professional, customer-focused attitude
  • Previous fleet experience advantageous but not essential
  • Strong automotive technical background, suited to Vehicle Technicians, Workshop Controllers, Diagnostic Technicians, Service Advisors, or experienced garage reception staff
