We’re hiring a Care Officer to join our team in Scleddau, Fishguard!

Applicants must hold at least a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care and have previous experience in a Senior role.

Applicants must be dependable, motivated, and trustworthy.

This role is key in supporting the management team to maintain high standards of care and ensure residents’ needs, choices, and wellbeing are consistently met.

Purpose of the Position

  • Support the management team in the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Undertake assigned duties, checks, and responsibilities to maintain high standards of care.
  • Promote residents’ mental and physical wellbeing through meaningful engagement.
  • Help ensure safe, respectful, and person-centred care is consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake duties as Officer in Charge when directed by senior management
  • Support and mentor junior staff members
  • Promote mental and physical activity for residents
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Assist residents with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, etc.)
  • Support with medication administration (under supervision of competent staff)
  • Prepare, serve, and assist with meals and hydration
  • Make beds, tidy rooms, and carry out light cleaning duties
  • Launder, inspect, and repair residents’ clothing where required
  • Respond to emergency bells, answer doors/phones, and welcome visitors
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care notes
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as required
  • Previous care experience is required
  • QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is essential
  • Level 2 considered if currently working towards Level 3
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Genuine interest in working with older people
  • Willingness to learn and complete ongoing training
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a rota
