A female Personal Assistant is required to support a woman living in the Wishaw area. She enjoys watching TV, chatting, shopping, and spending time out in the fresh air. She has epilepsy, an acquired brain injury, and physical and neurological disabilities. She has a Peg Feed Tube in situ and uses an Oxygen Concentrator 24/7.

You would provide two-to-one support alongside another team member, both at home and in the community, helping her with personal care, daily routines, and the activities she enjoys. Support would include:

  • Providing support with personal care, including showering, toileting, bowel care, and changing pads
  • Supporting with moving and assisting, including pushing a manual wheelchair and using a mobile hoist
  • Monitoring and supporting during epileptic seizures and following emergency procedures when required
  • Prompting with medication
  • Supporting with PEG feeding – Peg Feed Tube in situ
  • Going out for walks using the wheelchair
  • Supporting with shopping for clothes and personal items
  • Helping with household shopping
  • Supporting with other daily living tasks that promote independence and choice

The successful candidate should take a proactive and creative approach to providing support, encouraging her to take part in activities that reflect her interests, preferences, and needs. The most important qualities are a warm, friendly nature and a genuine interest in working in a caring and supportive role. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Driving licence is preferred but not essential as you may be required to drive a manual mobility vehicle. Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.

Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility): Guaranteed permanent position of up to 30 hours per week

Days and Times: Monday - Friday: 9am – 3pm (during the first 1-2 weeks 9AM – 1PM). There may be evening shifts required approximately 7pm – 9pm, this will be discussed at interview.

Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour

If you are successfully hired, you will be employed directly by a Private Employer on a PAYE basis and will be entitled to all statutory rights as set out by Employment Law, such as paid holidays and statutory sick pay (where eligible).
