We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong marine, port or heavy civil engineering background to deliver a £7.5m infrastructure project at Felixstowe Port for a specialist marine contractor. The project involves the replacement of twin crane rails within an operational port environment, incorporating significant heavy civil engineering works and requiring a highly experienced Project Manager capable of managing complex construction activities safely, efficiently and to programme.

The Role

You will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, coordinating site operations, subcontractors, engineering teams and key stakeholders while ensuring the works are delivered to the required standards for safety, quality, programme and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a £7.5m crane rail replacement scheme within a live port environment
  • Manage heavy civil and marine construction activities from mobilisation through to completion
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and engineering resources
  • Manage programme, commercial performance, quality and H&S
  • Liaise closely with the client, port stakeholders and project teams
  • Ensure works are delivered safely with minimal disruption to ongoing port operations
  • Manage construction sequencing, logistics and site interfaces
  • Monitor progress against programme and drive delivery on site
  • Lead project meetings and provide clear reporting to senior management and the client
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues and change

About You

The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering marine, port, quay, crane rail, heavy civils or similar complex infrastructure projects. You should have:

  • Strong Project Management experience within construction/civil engineering
  • Previous experience working in a port or marine environment
  • Experience delivering projects of strong knowledge of heavy civil engineering and construction methodologies
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors and site teams
  • Excellent programme, commercial and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and quality requirements
  • Ability to manage complex works within an operational environment
