The post holder will assume responsibility for the day to day management of facilities services including housekeeping and patient food services in a zonal area. They will have responsibility for Facilities Team leaders and groups of operational teams.

The main elements of the role will be to ensure that housekeeping and patient food services are delivered to the required standards and within the agreed budgets and to act as a lead for designated projects within the department. They will develop staff through training and coaching and be actively involved in staff appraisals.

The post requires strong communication skills and the ability to develop working relationships at all levels. The post holder will be accountable for the financial budgets across the site and will be responsible for delivering set objectives within the designated business plan. They will ensure that resources and standards allocated to the team are properly and effectively deployed to deliver agreed outputs determined by key performance indicators.

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for contributing to a safe and comfortable housekeeping service and patient food services for the patients, staff and visitors within the hospital. The main elements of the role are to ensure that staff and patient requirements are met through ensuring the excellent delivery of the facilities services comprising cleaning and ward food and beverage services.

To lead on projects within and relating to Facilities Services as designated by the Senior Facilities Manager. This would include managing the project from inception, planning and design, costing, managing/monitoring and closing.

To take an active role in financial management of designated cost centres within the department and play a lead role in business planning for the department, identifying areas for savings and realigning services to produce efficiencies.

To monitor and influence workforce allocations (staff bank & agency bookings/annual leave/special leave) in line with the department’s financial targets and trust policies.

To ensure that the procedures and systems within the facilities department meet all statutory requirements, through the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures and through appropriate audit and control.

To manage all staff so as to ensure that the local teams meet the objectives set and that the staff themselves have excellent opportunities for development in order to fulfil their potential.
