We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical and quality agenda across our Evesham and Worcester sites. This is a key leadership role, sitting on the site SLT, responsible for driving food safety, quality, and compliance whilst supporting business growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Technical (HB), you will take full accountability for technical performance across both sites, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, BRC standards, and all relevant legislation. You’ll lead and develop the technical, hygiene and compliance teams, working collaboratively across functions to deliver continuous improvement against key KPIs, whilst maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site technical compliance, ensuring adherence to BRCGS A/AA standards, legal requirements and customer expectations
- Own and maintain HACCP/TACCP systems, ensuring best practice food safety and product integrity
- Manage and develop the technical, quality and hygiene teams across both sites
- Drive continuous improvement across customer complaints, hygiene standards and audit performance
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer, retailer and certification audits
- Act as the key technical contact for customers and retailer meetings
- Oversee microbiological testing, pest control and hygiene standards
- Lead investigations and response to food safety incidents, including recalls
- Manage departmental budgets and resource planning
- Build a strong quality-first culture through engagement, training and development
About You
You’ll be a confident and credible technical leader, comfortable operating in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment with:
Experience
- Proven Technical Manager experience within chilled, dairy or fast-paced food manufacturing
- Strong background working with UK retailers (e.g. M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Morrisons)
- Experience leading BRC audits and customer audits
- Demonstrable success managing and developing technical teams
- Track record of delivering technical KPIs and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Degree in a food-related discipline
- HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3
- Strong microbiological knowledge
- Lead Auditor trained
- Good understanding of UK/EU food legislation and BRCGS standards
- Full UK driving licence (role covers multiple sites)
