We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).

Job Summary

Join St John Ambulance and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of England's leading Event Healthcare provider. As our Event Healthcare Commercial Development Manager, you will drive commercial insight, identify growth opportunities and provide strategic business partnering across our Event Healthcare portfolio. Using data-driven analysis and market intelligence, you will influence key commercial decisions, strengthen our competitive position and help shape long-term strategic and operational plans that enable us to deliver outstanding healthcare services at events across England.

About You

  • You are an experienced strategic leader with a degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience), committed to continuous professional development and delivering excellence through your work.
  • You have a proven track record of developing strategy, identifying opportunities for improvement, and translating organisational goals into effective, measurable operational plans.
  • You bring experience of working in a competitive and changing environment, with the ability to lead major change programmes, manage risk, and deliver successful outcomes.
  • You are skilled at building agile, customer-focused processes and creating high-performing, collaborative teams that deliver exceptional experiences for customers and stakeholders.
  • You are an innovative and commercially aware thinker, able to influence at all levels, navigate competing priorities, and build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • You are an emotionally intelligent and inclusive leader who inspires others through a visible, democratic leadership style, embraces feedback, and creates a culture of learning, trust, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Event Healthcare commercial strategy, helping to drive sustainable growth and strengthen St John Ambulance's market position.
  • Provide commercial insight, pricing analysis and financial modelling to support strategic decision-making, business planning and long‑time sustainability.
  • Evaluate event performance, profitability and pipeline opportunities, identifying ways to maximise revenue and commercial success.
  • Support the development of high‑value bids and tenders, ensuring commercial opportunities are evaluated and positioned for success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Event Healthcare, Volunteering and Commercial teams to turn data and market intelligence into practical business improvements.
  • Stay informed on market trends, healthcare developments and sector opportunities while championing an inclusive, collaborative approach to continuous improvement.
