- Provide a comprehensive Estate Management service, which supports the Corporate Asset Management Plan.
- Marketing and disposal of surplus Council land and property in accordance with Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972, the General Disposal Consent 2003 and the Council’s Financial Regulations/Constitution.
- Acquisition of land/property to facilitate Council projects.
- Instruction and supervision of consultants in respect of valuation, conveyancing, rating and to advise on valuation issues as and when required.
- Initiate and respond to applications and provide advice under Landlord and Tenant legislation and Land Compensation code.
- Undertake site searches in relation to land or buildings held or proposed to be acquired by the Council and to produce necessary plans and recommendations.
- Management of the Council’s industrial, retail and other properties including lease assignments, sub-letting, negotiating leases and rent reviews in accordance with current Landlord & Tenant legislation.
- Undertake in-house valuations under supervision.
- Deal with encroachments on Council owned land.
- Grant licences and permission to use Council property.
- Any other duty that is reasonable and legal at the time of instruction and which is commensurate with the grade.
To carry out Health & Safety responsibilities in accordance with the Authority’s Health & Safety policies.
To comply with the Council’s decarbonisation requirements to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
