Morgan Hunt are working with a college based in South Yorkshire who are looking for an Estates and Facilities Assistant (Caretaker).

In this role you will play an essential role in ensuring the College's buildings and grounds are safe, secure, accessible, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

This position helps create a clean, welcoming, and professional campus environment while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of college facilities.

The way you carry out your duties and interact with others will contribute significantly to the overall experience and perception of the college.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the college Group shift rota to ensure Estates and Facilities support is available across all campuses during opening hours.
  • Open, secure, and monitor College premises, ensuring buildings, equipment, and assets remain safe throughout the day.
  • Prepare teaching spaces, meeting rooms, and other areas for use, including moving and arranging furniture as required.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of college buildings and outdoor areas by removing waste and emptying bins.
  • Promote a safe environment by keeping corridors, walkways, and fire exits clear of hazards, reporting or addressing issues as they arise.
  • Complete health and safety inspections and compliance checks accurately and within required timescales.
  • Provide porterage services, ensuring post, parcels, documents, and deliveries are transported promptly to the correct departments or locations.
  • Work alongside contractors and colleagues to support Estates and Facilities projects and Group objectives.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and repair tasks where appropriate, working with the Maintenance team and identifying opportunities to improve the College environment.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in accordance with scheduled programmes.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, including fire alarms, evacuations, equipment failures, and other incidents, providing support to emergency services when required.
  • Attend Group premises as directed to provide additional support for examinations, events, and other operational activities.
  • Provide First Aid support as part of the College's First Aid provision.

Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across all College buildings and grounds by being visible, proactive, professional, and approachable.

Through high standards of service, contribute to a positive experience for students, staff, visitors, and customers while enhancing the reputation of the College.

  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities, responding to urgent maintenance requests, and supporting colleagues across the Estates and Facilities team.
  • Work independently on a day-to-day basis while reporting to the Estates and Facilities Management Team, effectively prioritising work requests based on urgency and operational need.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance by wearing the College uniform and providing courteous, customer-focused service.
  • Confidently use a computer, telephone, and radio communication system to receive and manage work requests, respond to incidents, and maintain accurate records.
