Job Purpose
Sewing Machine Operators are responsible for operating sewing related machines including, single needle, double needle, over lock and other various machines to join and/or reinforce fabric, Velcro, webbing, and other material used in manufacturing of production assemblies.
Main Duties of a Sewing Machine Operator
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, flowcharts, and build plans.
- Possess flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks independently in an organized manner.
- Operate industrial sewing machines (single needle, double needle, overlock, and others).
- Sew and reinforce fabrics, webbing, Velcro, and other materials used in production.
- Produce accurate, high-quality work to specified measurements and tolerances.
- Acquire potential skills necessary to operate all sewing related machines and work instructions.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Required to monitor work and be self-motivated.
- Must be detail oriented and have a high attention to detail.
- Have good hand-eye coordination.
- Have the ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to measure and work to tolerances.
Training / Experience
- No previous sewing machinist experience required.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important than previous experience.
- Full in-house training provided, supported by the UK Fashion & Textile Association.
