Education Support Worker (SEN) - Sixth Form College

We are seeking dedicated, patient and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants / Education Support Workers to work at a mainstream Sixth Form College in Leicester on a full-time and long-term basis.

This role is ideal for anyone passionate about helping young people between the ages of 16-19 with additional needs succeed in a post-16 setting.

The role at a glance

You'll be supporting learners aged 16-19 with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop essential life and study skills.

Your support will play a key role in their academic progress and personal development.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Assisting in classroom, workshop and vocational sessions.
  • Encouraging independence, communication and social development.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.
  • Supporting progress towards EHCP targets.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

What we're looking for

  • Recent experience supporting young people with SEN (education, care, youth work or similar backgrounds welcome).
  • Hold GCSE's (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science - essential for this role.
  • A calm, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to tailor support to individual needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their goals.
  • A valid DBS registered on the DBS Update Service (or willingness to apply)
