We are currently looking for Transition and Pastoral Support Coaches across the College Group (Southampton, Eastleigh and Fareham) who are passionate, highly motivated, and committed to helping learners overcome barriers to success.

These rewarding roles focus on supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged learners as they transition into college, providing the guidance, encouragement, and practical support they need to achieve their full potential.

As a Transition and Pastoral Support Coach, you will deliver targeted transition, pastoral, wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance support to learners who may require additional relational, safeguarding, welfare, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) support.

Working closely with curriculum teams and support services, you will play a key role in promoting learner engagement, wellbeing, and achievement, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment where every learner can succeed.

Duties

  • Delivering one-to-one and small-group transition support activities.
  • Supporting learners through enrolment, induction, and the early stages of their college journey.
  • Building trusted relationships with vulnerable and disadvantaged learners.
  • Providing pastoral support relating to wellbeing, resilience, mental health, confidence, and emotional regulation.
  • Working with attendance and curriculum teams to improve learner engagement and participation.
  • Delivering interventions and coaching programmes designed to develop independence, organisation, self-regulation, and positive behaviours.
  • Liaising with parents, carers, schools, social care teams, Virtual Schools, and external agencies.
  • Supporting learners during periods of crisis and helping them re-engage with learning.
  • Maintaining accurate records and monitoring the impact of interventions.
  • Promoting safeguarding, inclusion, equality, diversity, and learner wellbeing at all times.

You will be someone who

  • Has experience working with young people, particularly those facing barriers to learning.
  • Understands pastoral support, safeguarding, wellbeing, attendance, and learner engagement.
  • Is able to build positive, professional, and trusting relationships.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Can remain calm and professional when supporting learners with complex needs.
  • Is passionate about helping learners succeed and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively whilst also being able to use initiative and make informed decisions.
