Critical Care Staff Nurse | East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

There is an opportunity to join the Critical Care team in Eastbourne as a Band 5 Nurse. If you have some acute experience, substantial experience on an acute ward, and you would like a new challenge - then critical care could be for you.

There is a clear education programme and teaching for our new starters. You will given at least 6 weeks supernumerary and once this is completed you have a national workbook called the steps 1 to complete.

During this time you will learn to look after the most critically unwell patients in the hospital. You will be supported by your team leader and practice educator and will have regular support and coaching shifts.

We also have a clinical psychologist cross site who supports our patients, relatives and staff.

Critical Care at Eastbourne District General Hospital comprises of 5 level 3 beds and 3 level 2 beds.

To plan, provide and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for the critically ill patient under the supervision of Band 6 and Band 7 critical care nurses. To complete the Network Critical Care Foundation Programme and progress towards the adult Critical Care Course if appropriate

We work closely with our other unit at the Conquest Hospital and cross-site working, at times, is a requirement of the role.

A wide range of staff benefits are available, including opportunities for staff development, enrolment in the NHS Pension Scheme, auto-enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, and access to onsite nurseries, staff restaurants, and accommodation.

In addition to an internal Occupational Health Department, all staff have access to free psychological support through our confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite parking is available for just Β£50 per year.
