About the Role

As an Activities Assistant, you'll spend time getting to know our residents, learning about their life stories, interests and aspirations so you can help create personalised activities that promote wellbeing, independence and social connection.

Whether you're organising a craft session, supporting a community outing, celebrating a special occasion or simply sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, your role will have a lasting impact on residents' happiness and quality of life.

Working alongside the Lifestyle Manager and wider team, you'll help create a vibrant programme of activities that reflects the unique personalities and preferences of everyone who lives in our home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of meaningful group and one-to-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities and life experiences.
  • Build relationships with residents by learning about their hobbies, preferences and personal histories.
  • Develop and maintain links with local schools, charities, churches and community organisations to enhance the activity programme.
  • Help organise visits from entertainers, performers and external providers.
  • Support larger events and resource-intensive activities to ensure residents can participate safely and enjoyably.
  • Encourage colleagues to engage residents in meaningful interactions throughout the day and promote a whole-home approach to activities.
  • Record activities and outcomes accurately on PCS, ensuring care plans and activity programmes remain up to date.
  • Champion the My Life Story and Resident of the Day initiatives by maintaining accurate social information and encouraging personalised care.
  • Gather photographs and stories for newsletters, noticeboards and social media, ensuring appropriate consent has been obtained.
  • Promote a resident-led culture by sharing residents' preferences and life experiences with the wider team.
  • Be flexible to support occasional evening activities and special events when required.

  • Working Pattern

Permanent rolling rota of three consecutive shifts on followed by three consecutive shifts off

Average 21 hours per week

Flexibility to support occasional evening activities and events where required.
