What you'll do

  • Prepare, cook and present fresh, high-quality meals to the highest standards.
  • Supervise the day-to-day kitchen operation, ensuring food is prepared safely, efficiently and on time.
  • Lead by example, supporting and motivating the catering team to deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Operate the Sodexo online recipe and ordering system in line with company procedures.
  • Support the successful delivery of a Pay As You Dine operation, with an understanding of stock control, food costs and profit and loss.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, company policies and a "clean as you go" approach.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures, ensuring all food is stored, prepared and served safely.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food presentation and kitchen organisation.
  • Minimise food waste through effective stock rotation, portion control and economical use of resources.
  • Report maintenance issues and equipment defects to the appropriate manager.
  • Ensure safe closing procedures and effective handovers between shifts.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture and comply with all relevant legislation and company standards.
  • Support the ongoing development of your own knowledge and skills while contributing to continuous improvement across the catering operation.

What you bring

  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Basic Food Safety Certificate.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, health & safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
  • Previous experience within a busy catering or hospitality environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and numerical skills.
  • The ability to work independently while supporting and supervising a team.
  • A genuine passion for producing high-quality food and delivering excellent customer service.
  • IOSH or CIEH qualifications (or equivalent).
  • Experience supervising or leading a catering team.
  • Previous experience working within a military or defence environment.
  • Experience managing stock, ordering systems and catering budgets.
