A cinema that was once a recording studio, then a cinema again, and is soon to be a recording studio once more. Also home to a Members’ Club and Bar & Bistro. Our flagship has a rich and storied history, with many iterations over the years, but always remaining a place to enjoy entertainment. As custodians of this iconic building, we continue to honour its legacy while shaping its future as a hub of entertainment. The Olympic in Barnes has a three-screen cinema, a members’ club, further members-only spaces, a Bar & Bistro, an outdoor terrace, and, re-opening in 2026, the music recording studio.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Box Office Manager who has a background in cinema to provide an exceptional service to our valued members. Reporting directly into the General Manager, you’ll be supervising and leading the Box Office team. Our Box Office Manager will ensure a flawless cinema viewing experience for our valued guests by guiding and motivating their team and using their keen eye for detail. Your passion for cinema, combined with a professional, warm and welcoming approach will guide you to success. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the team are well trained, supported, motivated and clearly guided to empower them to provide a best-in-class service to our members and guests.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll be:

  • Working closely with the General Manager and the management team to ensure the smooth running of all cinema screenings
  • Working front of house leading by example, selling tickets, F&B, maintaining cleanliness while managing the team.
  • Assisting with In-venue marketing such as windows, digital designs and posters
  • Working with our cinema tech team to confidently run shifts with projectors and live stream equipment
  • Using your existing knowledge to guide, support, and train other members of the box office team
  • Ensuring that all private screening events run smoothly and to an excellent standard
  • Recruiting and interviewing front of house candidates when required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Must haves:

  • A true passion and interest in both film and providing our guests and members with a standard of service which sets us apart from any other cinema or film offering
  • Knowledge of digital cinema projection and basic troubleshooting issues
  • A good amount of experience in staff training and development, particularly in maintaining high standards in line with our brand
  • Experience leading a team in either a cinema or hospitality capacity, in an engaging and supportive manner
  • Strong, clear communication skills including the ability to relay information constructively and in a timely manner
  • A positive and pro-active approach with the ability to problem solve when necessary
  • Great-excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Sense of accountability and holding others to account in a fair way
  • Excellent sense of team spirit

Nice to haves (we can provide training if you have the above):

  • Experience with a theatre management system (TMS)
  • Experience with ticketing software in cinema, theatre or events
  • AV experience in live sound, lighting or events (microphones, sound mixing, PA)
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (or Canva)
