As part of Children and Families Service you will be based at Craigie Cottage, which is a residential provision for primary aged children, so that they can be cared for locally within a therapeutic care placement that allows for multi-agency assessment and profiling of the child's needs to inform future care planning. The remit of this team is to prepare children to return to a family environment whether this be their own family or foster care. You will work full time, 37 hours per week across a 10 week rota.
Requirements
- You will have 3 National 4s, or equivalent, and the ability to undertake relevant HNC and SVQ3 and any other relevant qualification which provides evidence of academic achievement equivalent to, or above, SCQF Level 7.
Responsibilities
- You will assist in the creation and maintenance of a high-quality care environment underpinned by Trauma Informed practice and Nurturing approaches all underpinned by Solihull practices, in which children and young people are offered safety and security to grow.
- You will help children and young people to make use of services and information as appropriate to their full advantage and to assist in the promotion of effective communication by and with children and young people to this end.
The Individual
- You will have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with children and young people and their families and carers.
- You will have understanding of the emotional practical and social care needs of young people.
- You will require to have trauma informed knowledge and use trauma informed responses to inform care planning and de-escalation.
- You will have an understanding of young people's needs, the issues affecting them as individuals and the issues affecting them in a group living setting.
- You will be committed to high standards of care for children and young people.
- You will be able to undertake CALM procedures.
- You will have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- You will be self-motivated and self-reliant.
- You will have experience of working effectively in a team.
- You will have ability to work a three shift system including waking nights.
- You will have ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
