The Health & Safety / Compliance Officer will take responsibility for maintaining a safe, compliant and well-controlled working environment across the MSAI Scotland data centre campus.
The role will manage the site's Health & Safety management system, risk assessments, contractor compliance, RAMS and Permit to Work processes, while carrying out audits and inspections to ensure company, statutory and industry requirements are met.
The role will also support incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement across the campus.
Duties
- Own and maintain the site's Health & Safety management system.
- Develop, review and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Manage the Permit to Work process across the campus.
- Review and approve contractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) before works commence.
- Ensure contractors meet MSAI's H&S, compliance and site-access requirements.
- Carry out regular site inspections, workplace audits and compliance checks.
- Monitor construction, engineering, maintenance and operational activities to ensure safe working practices.
- Identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Track H&S actions through to completion and maintain accurate records.
- Support the management of CDM compliance across construction and development activities.
- Liaise with the Principal Contractor, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders on H&S matters.
- Support the development and implementation of Construction Phase Plans and relevant H&S documentation.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences and other incidents.
- Lead or support root-cause analysis and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate incident, accident and near-miss records and prepare relevant reports.
- Support emergency preparedness, including fire, evacuation, first aid and other emergency response arrangements.
- Coordinate and support H&S training, inductions and toolbox talks.
- Maintain records of employee and contractor competency, training and qualifications where required.
- Monitor compliance with relevant UK H&S legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Support external inspections, audits and regulatory visits.
- Conduct regular contractor performance and compliance reviews.
- Monitor environmental, occupational health and workplace safety requirements relevant to the data centre.
- Work closely with Facilities, Engineering, Security, Operations and Project teams to embed safe working practices.
- Develop and maintain H&S procedures, policies, checklists and operational documentation.
- Produce regular H&S performance reports, audit findings and compliance dashboards.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety culture and operational compliance.
- Provide professional H&S advice and guidance to managers, employees and contractors.
- Escalate serious safety risks and non-compliance issues to senior management.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across the MSAI Scotland campus.
