The BMS / DCIM Controls Engineer will take ownership of the site’s Building Management System (BMS) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms, ensuring the campus is continuously monitored, controlled and operating efficiently.

The role will integrate telemetry from power, cooling, environmental and critical infrastructure systems, while developing dashboards, alarms and reporting to provide the operations team with clear real-time visibility.

The engineer will also support capacity planning, system optimisation, fault diagnosis and continuous improvement across the data centre.

Duties

  • Own the day-to-day operation, maintenance and configuration of the site BMS and DCIM platforms.
  • Configure and maintain BMS controllers, sensors, gateways, interfaces and associated control systems.
  • Develop and maintain DCIM dashboards, monitoring screens, alarms and reporting.
  • Integrate telemetry from HV/LV power systems, UPS, generators, cooling systems, HVAC, environmental sensors and other critical infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and investigate alarms, trends, abnormal readings and control-system faults.
  • Configure alarm thresholds, escalation rules and notification workflows.
  • Develop clear and effective operator dashboards and visualisations for the Critical Facilities and Operations teams.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers, points lists, control logic, graphics and system documentation.
  • Support the integration of new equipment and systems into the BMS/DCIM environment.
  • Work with electrical, mechanical and IT teams to ensure accurate telemetry and control across critical infrastructure.
  • Support capacity planning by analysing power, cooling, space and environmental data.
  • Monitor trends and identify opportunities to improve PUE, energy efficiency, cooling performance and overall site resilience.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing of BMS/DCIM integrations for new infrastructure.
  • Diagnose communication, instrumentation and control issues and coordinate corrective action.
  • Support integration with EPMS, SCADA, PLC and other control/monitoring platforms where applicable.
  • Maintain appropriate cybersecurity, user access and configuration controls for BMS/DCIM platforms.
  • Manage and coordinate BMS/DCIM contractors and specialist controls suppliers.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments and change documentation for controls-related works.
  • Ensure all changes are properly documented and managed through the site change-control process.
  • Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis involving control or monitoring systems.
  • Produce regular operational, capacity, alarm and performance reports.
  • Maintain system backups and configuration records to support recovery and business continuity.
  • Support the development and testing of BMS/DCIM emergency operating procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for critical controls and monitoring incidents.
