Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.

Leisure and Culture Dundee, in partnership with Dundee City Council, is looking to recruit an Active Schools Activity Inclusion Worker to join our successful Active Schools Team. This rewarding role requires candidates with the passion and commitment to use sport and physical activity to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families, particularly those facing barriers to participation.

Candidates should have experience delivering safe, inclusive physical activity sessions, engaging with targeted groups, and supporting positive health behaviours through sport and physical activity. This is a fixed term post until the 25 March 2027. For existing Leisure and Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council employees’ secondments will be considered. Line Manager approval should be sought prior to applying for a secondment.

Requirements

SVQ Level 3 in a Sport or physical activity related field and/or work-related experience.

Responsibilities

As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport Section, you will support the delivery of inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities for children, young people and families, particularly those facing barriers to participation. You will plan and deliver engaging activities, build positive relationships with schools and partners, promote healthy lifestyles, and help identify opportunities to increase participation and improve wellbeing across targeted groups.

The Individual

You will have practical experience in sports coaching and organising participation programmes is essential, along with experience of working with children and young people, including those with additional support needs. You will also have experience of supporting coaches or volunteers and marketing and promoting activities or programmes. You should also have the ability to use a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Word.

In addition, you will have good communication, presentation and people skills, the ability to organise your workload effectively, and be adaptable, diplomatic, approachable and empathetic. You must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where required, and be committed to ongoing personal development.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
