Your new role
As a Consultant or Senior Ornithologist, you will play a key role in delivering ornithological surveys, assessments and technical advice across a range of projects throughout the UK.
Your responsibilities will include
- Planning and undertaking ornithological field surveys, including breeding bird, wintering bird and vista point surveys.
- Producing technical reports including survey reports, impact assessments and ecological appraisals.
- Providing ornithological advice to clients and project teams.
- Supporting projects through the planning and development process.
- Managing project programmes, budgets and client expectations (Senior level).
- Supporting junior staff through mentoring and technical guidance.
- Working collaboratively with ecologists and environmental specialists across multidisciplinary projects.
- What you'll need to succeed
- A degree in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering ornithological surveys and assessments within the UK.
- Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, policy and guidance relating to birds.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Experience working within consultancy or a commercial ecological environment.
- Membership of CIEEM or a relevant professional body (desirable).
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
