The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner will provide specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for people with learning disabilities and/or autism whose quality of life is impacted by behaviours of concern. They will promote evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support approaches, contribute to the development of the PBS pathway, and support service users, families, carers and professionals to achieve improved outcomes through person-centred practice.

Main Duties of the Role

  • Complete specialist functional assessments and formulations for people with learning disabilities and autism who present with behaviours of concern.
  • Develop, implement and review Positive Behaviour Support plans in partnership with individuals, families, carers and professionals.
  • Provide specialist PBS advice, guidance and consultation to colleagues, support providers and partner agencies.
  • Manage a defined caseload and contribute to holistic assessment, intervention and care planning within the MDT.
  • Deliver PBS-related training, coaching and support to staff, carers and other stakeholders.
  • Promote trauma-informed, evidence-based and person-centred approaches in all aspects of practice.
  • Contribute to service development, clinical governance, quality improvement and audit activities.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards.
