Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is offering an apprenticeship opportunity for a Nursing Assistant. The position is based at Windermere Lodge, a 20-bed acute assessment ward for individuals with mental health disorders. The ward provides care for patients with complex mental health needs and physical co-morbidities, collaborating with various services including Adult Acute Mental Health Services, Psychology Services, and Palliative care teams.
If you do not have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH offers the chance to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role. As an apprentice, you will gain experience, learn work-related skills, and obtain the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation, with around 20% of your working hours dedicated to training or studying, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

- Experience of working in a mental health/Frailty setting
- Extensive communication skills

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality care as detailed in patient care plans under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Communicating effectively with the Nurse in Charge on all clinical matters
- Providing care for patients’ physical and psychological needs, considering personal preferences and choices (including escort duties)
- Undertaking clinical duties as requested and within own competence
- Maintaining privacy and dignity for patients and their carers
- Keeping a clean, pleasant, and tidy ward environment
- Helping patients participate in social and recreational activities
- Improving the quality of care for patients
- Recording aspects of care given as per care plan accurately
- Operating within the policies and procedures of Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust
