As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to children with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour, and non-verbal communication abilities and elderly. You will support clients within their homes and in the community, promoting independence, dignity, safety, and overall well-being. This role is ideal for compassionate and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable people and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care & Support
- Provide personal care, including assistance with hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, and continence care where required.
- Support clients with mobility, transfers, and moving & handling in line with care plans.
- Encourage independence and assist clients in developing daily living and social skills.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to children, adults, and elderly clients.
- Behaviour & Communication Support
- Support children and adults in managing challenging behaviours using patience, empathy, and positive behaviour support approaches.
- Assist non-verbal clients using communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, visual aids, or other communication tools.
- Promote emotional wellbeing and maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment.
- Community Engagement
- Accompany clients on community outings, appointments, educational activities, shopping trips, and recreational activities.
- Encourage participation in hobbies, social interaction, and community engagement.
- Ensure the client’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing during all activities and outings.
- Administer medication in line with care plans, training, and company procedures.
- Monitor and report any changes in physical health, emotional wellbeing, or behaviour to the Care Manager.
- Support with meal preparation and nutritional needs according to dietary requirements and care plans.
- Assist elderly clients with daily routines and support to maintain independence at home.
- Family Collaboration
- Work closely with parents, guardians, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure care plans are followed effectively.
- Build positive and professional relationships with families, offering reassurance and support where appropriate.
- Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, observations, incidents, medication administration, and daily activities in accordance with company policies.
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times and report concerns immediately.
- Adhere to health & safety regulations, confidentiality standards, and company policies.
