The predicted salary is between 37035 - 45265 £ per year.

Provide medicines management support in the dispensary by way of checking Patient Own Drugs (PODS) against the TTO prescription and to assist the pharmacist with any queries. Liaise with other healthcare professionals, patients and relatives in order to gather accurate and relevant information around the patients discharge medication.

To undertake dispensary technical duties, including labelling and dispensing of medicines, final accuracy checking and all required record-keeping. Participate in ward-based medicines management activities including medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients’ own drugs and transcribing of medication for dispensing.

As part of the late duty team within the dispensary there is the additional requirement for the post holder to ensure that the dispensary is tidy after the working day, all medicines are delivered/collected, and the department is secured.

To contribute to the provision of a safe and efficient dispensing service to include POD checking of patients medication prior to discharge, final accuracy checking of medications and counselling of patient medication. The post holder will also be expected to label and dispense medications including controlled drugs and oral chemotherapy. To undertake reception duties when required.

This post holder will be required to lead the late team and ensure the department is secure at the end of the day. To participate in the technical medicines management service to wards, working to national and local standards and policies. This will include completing medication histories, POD checking of medicines brought in to hospital by patients, providing counselling to patients of new and changed medications.

The post holder will be expected to liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and dieticians.
