The centralised decontamination unit is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team member to assist in the decontamination and delivery of endoscopes to our user areas within the hospital.

The successful candidate will enjoy a challenge and be team orientated but able to work on their own initiative.

In return you will work in a friendly supportive team and be given an induction period which will train you to work within the controlled systems, processes and guidelines in the unit.

The Endoscopy Decontamination Unit decontaminates all clinical and medical devices which can be reprocessed.

The functions of the department are undertaken with adherence to the Quality Management System ISO 13485 2012/2016 and compliance with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.

  • To decontaminate and supply Endoscopes to departments within Blackpool Victoria Hospital

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stock Control

  1. 1. Ensure that stock rotation is carried
  2. 2. Check that the minimum stock levels are maintained and liaise with
  3. 3. Top up raw materials on a daily basis within decontamination
  4. 1. Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all
  5. 2. Follow the correct entry and exit procedure for the Brush and Clean room.
  6. 3. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling and cleaning of all instrumentation and the safe use of all
  7. 4. Track and trace all equipment through the I.T. System (Scantrack).
  8. 5. Carry out in house cleaning tasks as
  9. 6. Report all non – conformances to a Supervisor/ unit co-ordinator or unit
  10. 7. Handle all equipment with
  11. 8. Ensure the correct clothing is worn at all times and minimal make up is
  12. 9. Carry out cleaning tasks as
  13. 10. Follow hand hygiene
  14. 11. Follow work instructions for the safe use of
  15. 12. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling checking and packing of scopes and accessories.
  16. 13. Adhere to the uniform
  17. 14. Report all breech in ISO regulations to a Supervisor/ unit co-ordinator or unit
  18. 15. Handle all equipment with
  19. 16. Trouble shoot any issues identified with AER’s.
  20. 17. Report any breakdowns to identified

Delivery and Storage Process (Clean Room):

  1. 1. Follow the correct entry and exit procedure for the drying
  2. 2. Ensure the correct clothing is worn at all
  3. 3. Carry out cleaning tasks as
  4. 4. Follow hand hygiene
  5. 5. Follow work instructions for the safe use of
  6. 6. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling of scopes and
  7. 7. Adhere to the uniform
  8. 8. Track and trace all equipment through the I.T. System (Scantrack).
  9. 9. Report all breech in ISO regulations to a Supervisor/ unit co-ordinator or unit
  10. 10. Handle all equipment with
  11. 11. Ensure all e-wiping carried out as

Delivery and Collection:

  1. 1. Ensure the correct procedure for collecting and delivering scopes is adhered
  2. 3. Place decontaminated scopes in drying cabinet for specific
  3. 4. Track and trace all equipment through the I.T. System (Scantrack).
  4. 5. Follow all work instructions for the safe handling of scope trays and
  5. 6. Follow all work instructions for the delivery and collection of
  6. 7. Handle all equipment with
  1. 1. All personal protective equipment which is provided must be used in the correct manner
  2. 2. Assist in the training of new decontamination
  3. 3. Ensure all products are tracked from the point of receipt, throughout decontamination, final release and dispatch using the Scantrack IMS tracking system and/or paper- based system as
  4. 4. Ensure Quality Management System records are completed accurately and legibly and that uncontrolled changes are not made to documents or
  5. 5. Good timekeeping.
