Ideally 2 hours per day or 14 hours per week. Hourly pay rate: £12.71/hour. I am a lady in my 80s living with Parkinson’s Disease, which means my mobility can vary from day to day. I have a live-in carer who provides my main support, but she needs a two-hour break each day. I am looking for a kind, reliable and friendly Personal Assistant to spend this time with me and provide companionship and reassurance. The role is primarily about being there if I need assistance. Depending on the day, this might include making or serving drinks, helping me get comfortable by adjusting pillows or cushions, occasional toileting assistance and prompting me to take medication. My medication is automated, so this is simple to follow. Some days I enjoy chatting and discussing what is happening in the world, while other days I prefer to rest quietly. I am therefore looking for someone who is personable and enjoys conversation but is equally happy providing calm companionship. You do not need to be a qualified carer. A caring, patient and dependable nature is most important. Experience supporting someone with limited mobility or Parkinson’s Disease would be an advantage but is not essential. The two-hour break can be arranged directly with my live-in carer, most commonly around lunchtime or early afternoon. Ideally, we would like cover 7 days a week, but we will consider someone who can cover 5 days or two people who would like to share the hours. If you are warm, reliable and enjoy making a difference to someone’s day, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with a little about yourself and your availability.
