We are recruiting a compassionate and experienced Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join a specialist domestic abuse hostel/refuge in Leicester, supporting BAME women and their children who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse.
The Role
- Provide practical, emotional and culturally sensitive support to residents, helping them to remain safe, rebuild confidence and move towards greater independence.
- Providing one-to-one support to women affected by domestic abuse.
- Completing risk and needs assessments and support plans.
- Safeguarding women and children.
- Supporting residents with housing, benefits and access to services.
- Advocacy and multi-agency working.
- Maintaining accurate case notes and confidential records.
- Supporting the safe day-to-day running of the hostel/refuge.
About You
Ideally, you will have experience within domestic abuse, women's refuge, supported housing, safeguarding or a similar support environment. Knowledge of BAME communities, VAWG, honour-based abuse, forced marriage and culturally sensitive support would be highly beneficial. You will be compassionate, resilient, non-judgmental and confident working with vulnerable women and children. Enhanced DBS required. Female applicants only - an Occupational Requirement applies where confirmed by the employer under the Equality Act 2010.
Working Pattern
20 hours per week, working across an agreed rota covering Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, with shifts including 2:00pm-7:00pm.
