A PA is required to take out a young wheelchair-using boy to do activities with or without mum (so mum can have a bit of respite). He wants to do things with a PA for some independence and during summer holidays he spends a lot of time with mum, so it would be good for him.
Activities can vary as he is happy doing anything, but he particularly likes going on walks (which would have to be wheelchair accessible), looking at trucks, or going to the seaside. His hobbies include cars, movies, Lightning McQueen, trucks, buses, trains, helicopters, and he enjoys having his nails manicured. He dislikes long nails or hang nails. He likes watching traffic, especially trucks, and sometimes stands on the marina bridge to watch them. He loves lights, messy play, music, guitars, and will watch buskers in the street. His favourite characters include Spongebob, Patrick, and Mrs Puff.
He needs help with pad changes, washing, getting dressed, bathing, and undressing. He is non-mobile and requires assistance moving; he can sit unaided and commando crawl, preferring flooring to crawl on as carpet is harder. He is pre-verbal and will use one-word phrases in sentences, for example, he will say "mam," and I will respond "yes," followed by what he wants, like "car," "guitar," or "Spongebob."
Applicants will need to drive and have room for his wheelchair, as well as the ability to lift him into the car due to his lack of mobility.
