A family in the HU5 area are looking for a caring and reliable Personal Assistant for their 11-year-old son, Richard. He has Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delay, ADHD & Autism. The hours are 12 hours every 4 weeks available and can be used flexibly.
Richard loves interacting with adults and enjoys activities such as driving in the car, walking in the woods followed by a warm hot chocolate, gaming, swimming, and bowling. He would love for a PA to enjoy these activities with him.
He uses Makaton Sign Language to communicate, so ideally, the PA will have experience of Makaton. Richard has no safety awareness, so he will need constant supervision, and the PA will need to ensure measures are put in place to keep him safe. Richard has a peanut allergy and carries EpiPens; training will be provided.
The higher rate of pay is in recognition of the complex needs Richard has. A car driver with access to a vehicle is preferred, and mileage costs will be met by the employer.
Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.
