We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our team and help make every day meaningful, engaging and enjoyable for our residents.

This role is about much more than organising activities.

We are looking for someone who will take the time to get to know our residents as individuals — their life stories, interests, hobbies, abilities and preferences — and use this knowledge to create meaningful experiences that support their wellbeing and quality of life.

About the Role

As Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering a varied programme of social, recreational and therapeutic activities for residents.

You will support residents to remain active, socially engaged and connected with the wider community, while respecting their individual choices and abilities.

A significant part of the role involves supporting residents who may be living with dementia or cognitive decline, so patience, creativity, flexibility and a person-centred approach are essential.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of meaningful individual and group activities.
  • Tailor activities around residents' interests, abilities, life histories, preferences and care plans.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and spend time getting to know what is meaningful to each individual.
  • Carry out regular activity assessments and contribute to residents' care plans.
  • Encourage residents to participate without pressure, always respecting their choices and wishes.
  • Develop suitable activities for residents living with dementia or cognitive decline, including reminiscence, sensory and dementia-friendly activities.
  • Arrange and accompany residents on outings and external visits where appropriate.
  • Plan seasonal, cultural and themed events throughout the year.
  • Encourage involvement from residents' relatives and friends.
  • Build links with local community groups, charities, schools, entertainers and visiting performers.
  • Support residents to maintain hobbies and interests they enjoyed before moving into the care home.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, participation and residents' engagement.
  • Take photographs of activities and events where appropriate consent is in place.
  • Manage activities materials, equipment and expenditure within the agreed budget.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas towards improving residents' quality of life.
  • Work closely with care staff to ensure activities fit around residents' individual routines, care needs and preferences.
