Location: Field-based, covering the South of the UK. This role involves extensive travel, regular store visits and occasional overnight stays.

Here’s the exciting bit… A day includes:
- Support the Health and Safety Managers in ensuring that A.S. Watson businesses, including Superdrug, Savers and The Perfume Shop, comply with our Health and Safety Policy, Group Health and Safety Standards and relevant legislation.
- Promote a positive approach to workplace safety, fire risk management, accident prevention and employee wellbeing.
- Provide advice, training and practical support across stores, distribution centres and offices, helping teams maintain high standards and reduce workplace risks.
- Ensure the business’s Health and Safety Policy, standards and procedures are understood and followed.
- Support the Head of Department and Senior Health and Safety Managers in promoting a positive safety culture.
- Attend and represent the Health and Safety team at Area Manager and Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Ensure store and area management teams understand the safety requirements relevant to their roles.
- Carry out proactive inspections and audits across stores, distribution centres and offices.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, identify their causes and recommend actions to prevent them from happening again.
- Share relevant incident information and data with the wider Health and Safety team.
- Deliver and support Health and Safety training programmes, including on-site training.
- Build effective working relationships with regional, area and store management teams.
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive, local authorities, fire authorities and other relevant organisations.
- Remain up to date with current Health and Safety and fire safety legislation, codes of practice and industry guidance.
- Complete building surveys relating to immediate Health and Safety risks when required.
- Support project, property and facilities teams with project management, specifications, feasibility reports and Health and Safety or fire-risk matters.
- Audit the competence of contractors and service providers and advise the business on the findings.
- Support store management in ensuring contractors have suitable and sufficient safe systems of work.
- Help maintain accurate data relating to accidents, occupational illness, RIDDOR, fire-risk assessments and enforcement authority visits.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures and instructions.
What we’re looking for:
- A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel regularly across the South, including occasional overnight stays.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current fire safety and general Health and Safety legislation.
- A recognised fire safety qualification.
- Proven experience in a general building role or a fire-risk assessment and auditing position.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make informed decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- The ability to present information clearly and tailor your communication to different audiences.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong data-entry and analytical skills.
- The confidence to understand, challenge and adapt third-party IT systems used to support audit programmes.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
- Strong commercial awareness, enthusiasm and self-motivation.
It would be desirable if you also have:
- Experience within a fast-paced retail, travel or hospitality environment.
- Experience conducting Health and Safety audits.
- A recognised Level 6 Health and Safety qualification, or be working towards one.
- A recognised UKAS-accredited asbestos management qualification.
- A recognised training qualification, such as PTLLS.
- A recognised construction management qualification.
