We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing personal assistant to provide care for our sweet 4-year-old son, who has complex health issues and is a wheelchair user. We are looking for someone with a caring, patient nature who understands the importance of consistency and routine. Some experience of caring for children with medical or developmental needs would be needed to help manage medication, monitor health conditions, and respond quickly to changes in his health.
The role is to provide some respite to us whilst also making sure he is safe, happy, and comfortable. He enjoys playing with his toys, so you would need to engage in sensory play, developmental activities, and help him reach his potential in a safe, loving environment. There will be clinical tasks which may need to be given such as PEG feeding and suctioning as needed, but you will be given full training in these areas. The PA would ideally be flexible and able to cover last minute cancellations. Hours per week may increase in the future. It would be ideal if the PA has a drivers license, access to their own vehicle, and is local to the Crawley area.
Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Moving and handling
- Clinical tasks
- Other relevant duties as required
- Transportation
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Inserting meds through PEG
- PEG feeding
- Using Bipap ventilator
- Monitoring stats
- Suctioning if needed
- Assisting with using specialist equipment to aid standing
