As a community nursery nurse, you will work with health visitors, registered nurses, nursery nurses and administrators to deliver the Healthy Child Programme to children and families from pregnancy to 5 years of age. Under the supervision of the team lead, health visitors and registered nurses, you will:

  • Provide evidence based 1-1 advice for children, young people and families on issues such as continence, healthy eating (including infant feeding), sleep routines, childhood immunisations and child safety.
  • Provide health promotion advice and undertake the weighing and measuring of babies & children at Healthy Child Clinics, interpreting and accurately recording this information.
  • Undertake developmental reviews of selected children not requiring a targeted service, under the supervision of, and reporting any concerns to the delegating health visitor / registered nurse.
  • Participate in regular clinical and line management supervision with delegated supervisor.
  • Deliver group health promotion sessions or teaching as directed.
  • Work within the Pan Sussex Child Protection Procedures, reporting any concerns appropriately and undertaking relevant in-service child protection training.
  • Assist the health visitor / registered nurses in providing appropriate support and experience for nursing and other students undertaking community placement.
