These flexible opportunities are ideal for Cover Supervisors who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Finchley and the surrounding areas, ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence across a range of subjects and year groups.

Duties as Cover Supervisor:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects
  • Maintain a calm, structured, and purposeful classroom environment
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Support pupils to remain on task and complete set work
  • Take registers and follow safeguarding and attendance procedures
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, transitions, and when required at break or lunchtime
  • Provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff on pupil behaviour and engagement
  • Assist with general classroom and school support duties during cover periods

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school or education setting
  • Confident leading a classroom and managing pupil behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, consistent, and professional approach
  • Adaptable across different subjects, year groups, and school environments
  • Reliable, organised, and proactive
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development
