Senior Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
- Provide clinical care for renal inpatients, day cases and ward attendees as part of a registrar team.
- Participate in routine out‑patients clinics, including general nephrology, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transition clinics, across UHCW, Rugby, Warwick, Stratford and GEH.
- Attend and support the daily morning board round with the ward Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
- Carry out practical procedures such as insertion of vascular catheters for acute haemodialysis and, where required, temporary and tunnelled vascular catheterisations.
Opportunity to train in medical peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter insertions.
- Provide 1 in 6 weekend and evening renal on‑call coverage, assisting the on‑call renal consultant and supporting out‑of‑hours renal advice to other departments, including A&E, other hospitals and satellite dialysis units.
- Rotate through renal ward, renal outliers and transplantation postings, including day‑to‑day care of acute renal transplant patients and live‑donors.
- Attend three acute transplant clinics per week, plus transplant ward rounds and MDT meetings.
- Review referrals to the renal team from other departments and manage referrals from other hospitals or satellite dialysis units.
- Support the resident F2/IMT during out‑of‑hours responsibilities and participate in the GIM on‑call rota for one 4‑month period, during which time no renal on‑call duties will be undertaken.
