Join Gi Group and work with one of the UK's leading parcel delivery companies, now accepting new pass drivers with on-site training is available for this role for new pass and inexperienced drivers.

This position is a temporary contract, offering ongoing work 12 months per year for the right candidate.

Please note there maybe alcohol deliveries involved in this role.

Class 1 Driver - Training

  • Our client in Ryton-on-Dunsmore are opening a driving school new and inexperienced Class 1 drivers.
  • Candidates will complete 2 to 3 days of driver training followed by a final assessment
  • Once the assessment has been successfully completed, candidates will then be able to start ongoing work with our client
  • Please note - all days spent on training will be unpaid.

Class 1 Driver - Rates of Pay

Day 1

  • Days £19.61 per hour inclusive of your holiday pay (PAYE only)
  • Nights £19.89 per hour inclusive of your holiday pay (PAYE only)

After 12 weeks

  • Days £19.90 per hour inclusive of your holiday pay (PAYE only)
  • Nights £20.45 per hour inclusive of your holiday pay (PAYE only)
  • Overtime x1.5 on 6th consecutive shift

Class 1 Driver - Shifts and Hours

  • Shifts available 7 days a week
  • 22:00PM - 02:00AM starts available
  • 12:00PM - 14:00PM starts available
  • 8-12 hours per day
  • New on-site training anow available for new pass and inexperienced drivers

Class 1 Driver - The Role

  • Load / unload freight and secure load
  • Complete scheduled deliveries and collections (varied parcel weights
  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation
  • Perform vehicle checks and report defect
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Please note there maybe alcohol deliveries involved in this role
  • On-site training available for new drivers

Class 1 Driver - the perfect candidate will have

  • New pass drivers welcome
  • Max 6 SP penalty points accepted (no other endorsements)
  • Will be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes
  • Will be flexible and remain calm under pressure
  • Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
  • 2 years of work / education history
  • Please note there maybe alcohol deliveries involved in this role
