About the

Role: As a Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist at UHCW, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients diagnosed with lung cancer, offering expert clinical guidance, and providing emotional support throughout their care journey.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure patients receive personalized, holistic care tailored to their individual needs, from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond.

You will be responsible for

  • Assessing, diagnosing, and managing the clinical needs of lung cancer patients.
  • Providing high-level expertise on treatment options, symptom management, and side effect support.
  • Delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, while also offering guidance to families and caregivers.
  • Acting as a key liaison between patients, their families, and the healthcare team to coordinate care.
  • Educating and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their treatment and care.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

  • About You: We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with:
  • Substantial experience in oncology or respiratory, with a focus on lung cancer preferred.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and a passion for providing high-quality patient care.

  • Develop and educate staff, participating in supervision, mentorship and appraisal as required.

  • Manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring varying levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
  • Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e. g imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
  • Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
