EPR Workflow Owner | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

An exciting new job opportunity has become available to support in the development, implementation, and optimisation of the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and wider digital systems which in turn contribute to the delivery of the Trust's Digital Strategy and Outpatient Transformation Programme.

The role will have a particular focus on the ongoing development and expansion of the Patient Portal and other patient-facing digital solutions which enhance patient experience and support service transformation.

The post holder will play an active role in the configuration, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of digital system functionality, working collaboratively with clinical, operational, technical, and external stakeholders to ensure solutions meet organisational, operational, and patient needs.

They will support the delivery of projects aligned to the Digital Programme and Outpatient Programme Board, ensuring successful implementation of new functionality and continuous optimisation of existing digital services.

In addition to the above the role requires strong analytical skills to produce, interpret, and present complex data and reports that inform decision-making, measure performance, identify trends, and support service improvement.

The post holder will provide meaningful insights and recommendations to stakeholders, contributing to the development of business cases and the prioritisation of future digital initiatives.

In addition to some of the duties already outlined in the Job Overview the post will also include but not limited to the following duties:

Working across multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will identify opportunities to maximise potential of the Trust's EPR and associated digital applications, with a particular emphasis on expanding Patient Portal functionality and increasing digital engagement for patients.

This will include supporting system configuration, process redesign, user adoption, and the implementation of new digital capabilities that improve outpatient pathways and wider patient care.

The post holder will be expected to apply technical expertise in system configuration, possess a sound understanding of outpatient and patient pathway processes, and utilise project management principles to coordinate and deliver multiple digital workstreams.

They will support the successful delivery of strategic digital transformation initiatives, ensuring solutions are aligned with organisational objectives, national priorities, and best practice.

  • Provide specialist advice to clinical and administrative staff to ensure clinical digital system support for the business processes of the organisation and wider health community, especially where they directly impact patient care.
  • Identifying the change created through the introduction of new clinical digital system and support staff through this.

Develop business process change action plans for key areas of work, highlighting any resource requirements or change in staff roles and identifying the associated benefits and risks.

  • Work across specialties and services to achieve maximum benefits from all available clinical digital systems throughout the patient pathway.

To include working across the healthcare community in partnership with other organisations to improve services.

  • Apply in-depth clinical and operational experience and knowledge to the development of future processes which optimise the available clinical digital solutions
  • Escalates risks and issues associate with the introduction of new clinical digital systems as appropriate within ICT services.
  • Act on own initiative to identify future opportunities for service development and improvement.
  • Direct, motivate, plan, and monitor the work within the designated area of responsibility in order to achieve project plan timescales.
  • Work in accordance with Prince 2 principles and actively monitor the project plan working with the Programme/Project/Change Manager.
  • Participate in the development, analysis, evaluation and testing of clinical digital system both locally and regionally where appropriate.
  • Lead and facilitate relevant demonstrations and workshops for key members of staff affected by projects, encouraging discussion and debate on key issues.
