Employability Coordinator | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated and values driven Employability Coordinator to join our Apprenticeships & Widening Participation Team on a 12‑month fixed term basis.

This role leads the development and implementation of an inclusive recruitment pathway that supports disadvantaged and underrepresented groups into meaningful employment across four NHS Trusts.

It involves shaping a system‑wide virtual talent pool, redesigning entry‑level recruitment routes, and ensuring participants receive the support they need to progress into healthcare roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and embed a virtual talent pool to support job‑ready candidates into NHS employment.
  • Streamline and redesign entry‑level recruitment practices to remove barriers for individuals furthest from the labour market, including young people, care‑experienced applicants, and economically inactive residents.
  • Coordinate a ring‑fenced allocation of Apprentice, Band 2 and Band 3 vacancies for programme participants across multiple NHS providers.
  • Work closely with partners such as DWP, the Job Shop, local colleges and skills teams to enable smooth progression from employability programmes into paid placements.
  • Provide high‑quality workforce and recruitment reporting, monitoring conversion rates, outcomes and equality metrics.
  • Build strong relationships with HR teams, hiring managers and external stakeholders to deliver a consistent, collaborative and inclusive approach.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Background in HR, recruitment, widening participation or inclusive employment.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and understanding the barriers faced by those furthest from the labour market.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities.
  • Confident use of digital recruitment systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Proactive, flexible and innovative mindset with a commitment to UHCW values.
  • Full UK driving licence (international driving licence not accepted).

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates. If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.

Interviews for this post will take place week commencing 03 Aug 2026, subject to availability.

Closing Date: This advert will close as soon as sufficient applications have been received. Please apply promptly if interested.

The Trust is committed to building an organisation that makes full use of the talents, skills, experience and different perspectives available in our diverse society.

We want everyone to feel they are respected, valued, can achieve their potential and receive the most appropriate and relevant care.

We will create an environment where the equality and human rights principles of fairness, respect, equality, dignity and autonomy are promoted and are part of the organisation’s core values.
