Digital Systems Test Analyst | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

A new opportunity has arisen in the ICT Department at UHCW NHS Trust.

The role is for a Digital Systems Test Analyst, involving both manual and automated testing across various IT systems in the Trust.

The successful candidate will work in a team of Digital Systems Test Analysts and become knowledgeable with Trust systems, including the Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

The role will involve creating manual and automated test scripts, leverage robotic process automation (RPA) tools to design, create and deploy across various test scenarios, automating testing processes.

1. Participate in defining and refining the team’s development standards, practices, and methodologies in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 20000:1.

2. Responsible for developing and ensuring implementation of testing process, guidelines, checklists, and templates.

3. Assist with testing and assurance activities for digital solutions in the Trust, contributing to strategies, policies, and SOPs within this area.

Provide quality assurance for solutions through appropriate test coverage, analysis, and interpretation of highly complex information to identify defects and support their resolution.

5. Develop test plans that that focus on high value areas of a solution.

6. Assist with the development of test scripts using the Trust’s test automation solution.

  • Responsible for ensuring functional and non-functional testing of ICT Services projects.

Generating test scripts (manual and automated), advising the Digital Testing Team on how to develop test scripts to ensure successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT) / Functional Testing.

  • Reporting test progress against IT Service developed applications and third party applications, and for ensuring data and configuration are suitable to allow for full UAT.
  • Undertake testing across all digital systems including clinical, corporate and infrastructure solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring testing and regression testing take places to agreed policies/standards to ensure successful release management.
  • Responsible for ensuring UAT sign off and completion of project testing documents.
  • Responsible for continued review of testing documents, policies and standard changes.
  • Support software quality assurance testing to gauge and monitor the various testing activities performed by the Digital Testing Team.
  • To liaise with and advise Digital Systems Test Manager and Clinical Data Architects and other service leads relating to the design, development of testing processes and document authoring.
  • Contribute to project planning with regards to testing cycles.
  • Ensure effective management of the defect tracking process for given projects.
  • Escalate both clinical hazards and risks identified during testing.
  • Support embedded best practice safe digital standard work across all aspects of the Trust Digital solutions.
  • Maintain and develop a library of test scripts for each information system.
  • Maintain and develop a record of testing outcomes and bug tracking.
  • Create and manage knowledge documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and support for all information systems.
  • Record all assumptions/issues and risks in the appropriate development / team logs, ensuring that they clearly describe the impact and urgency to allow effective management of them.
  • Create testing plans to support operational product delivery of system developments in line with Trust strategies and business plans.
  • Carry out comprehensive functional system testing, including the production of test scripts, to ensure all system developments released are fit for purpose and produce the expected results.
  • Plan, document and execute functional testing for planned system upgrades/updates.
  • Document testing scripts, plans and outcomes to support the testing framework and the implementation of quality information systems.
