Capacity Manager | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
A high profile, accessible and responsive capacity manager with responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient patient flow though the hospital pathway.
Responsible for escalation of issues with patient flow and capacity within own area and ability to support the implementation of decisions taken by the Senior Medical and Nursing Teams, to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.

To collate information relating to patient flow and allocate patients requiring admission, consulting with the management teams in a timely fashion.
Ensuring correct priority is given to patients whilst balancing emergency and elective pressures.
To provide assistance to Ward staff in planning for and carrying out patient discharges.
Work collaboratively with outside organisations and cross departmentally, to support patient care pathways including repatriation management and escalation.

- Attend Daily huddles, focus boards and Site Meetings, to represent the area and to give formal updates on the bed position, any escalations regarding patient flow and to communicate out plans in place to remedy such escalations following liaison with the appropriate teams
- To act as a resource for staff, advising and directing/supervising on capacity management within the group.
Direct the allocation of patients to Medical beds in line with Trust policy, procedures and guidelines
- To support the Administrative Management Team with the supervision of administrative tasks within the admin teams (administrators/receptionist/ward clerks) within medicine and to lead on tasks delegated, as appropriate and when required.
- Help with the development of standard work in line with UHCWi methodology.
- Responsible for identifying clinical and non-clinical issues.
- Will enlist the clinical expertise and specialised technical and/or practical skills of the medical and nursing teams, to ensure optimum patient management.
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
- Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e. g Support in the cancelation of patients both on the day and in advance when necessary.
- Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available
- Responsible for the production of reports and data as requirement by the management team.
