The Buyer is responsible for supporting Senior Buyers with the development and implementation of their commodity/supply chain strategy throughout UMG. This role will aid with the complete range of strategic and new product introduction sourcing activities, including purchase goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
About the role
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Support other relevant departments as required.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and investigate opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and purchasing best practice tools and methods.
- Facilitate between suppliers and other UPA departments on new projects and activities.
- Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation.
- Provide supplier spend analysis and costs for new and existing activities.
- Prepare reports and updates as required.
- Work closely with others in the purchasing function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
- Raise and manage business system data such as new supplier set up, contracts, purchase orders etc.
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships in a professional and consistent manner.
- Compile departmental KPI data and supplier performance to enable evaluation.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and support performance reviews.
- Fully embrace the tools and techniques utilised through the Unipart Way.
